Whisper Woman’s Condom: A “Quiet” Entrance into the Malawian Marketplace
The USAID-funded Expanding Effective Contraceptive Options (EECO) project supports the research, development and introduction of technologies that better meet the sexual and reproductive health needs of women and girls. In 2015, the EECO team launched the Whisper Woman’s Condom in Malawi with the goal of identifying successful approaches for generating demand for and uptake of this new female condom. A post-market study among consumers and retailers was recently conducted to gain a deeper understanding of experiences using and selling the product, as well as to identify market factors that act as barriers to uptake. During this session, audience members will be split into groups to analyze results of the post-market research and discuss potential program improvements, culminating in a final ‘pitch’ to the wider audience.
