Timing of Pandemic Response: Lessons from Ebola
*Recommended Audience: Experienced Professionals
This session is meant to debate the intersections of different USG responses to major disease outbreaks and pandemics in the developing world, with a focus on lessons about Ebola from West Africa, while also looking at past epidemics (cholera, measles) and future emerging infections. Drawing on the lessons of the USG’s response to the Ebola outbreak, key issues emerged about the respect roles, capabilities, and comparative advantages of different branches of the USG, which lead to questions about how their respective strengths and weaknesses should be fit within an effective response in the future.
