Simple Rules for Strengthening Systems to Deliver Better Quality Healthcare
The USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) project is the USAID Office of Health System’s flagship for improving healthcare quality across all global health priority areas. The project’s approach is to engage health care providers and managers in applying improvement science methods to achieve better compliance with evidence-based standards, improve health outcomes, and increase efficiency. The project’s strong learning agenda has focused on key lessons learned for building sustainable capacity for assuring quality healthcare. This session presents simple rules for improving quality of complex adaptive systems like healthcare and challenges participants to apply them to making choices about where to invest health systems strengthening resources in a scenario drawn from the project’s experience.
