Roadmaps and Mapping: Two Tools to Promote Governance and Accountability for Stronger Health Systems

*Recommended Audience: Young Professionals/Graduate Students, Mid-Level Professionals, and Experienced Professionals

Global frameworks including FP2020, the Sustainable Development Goals and 90-90-90 emphasize increased governance and accountability as critical to achieving ambitious health goals. Yet there is limited guidance on how public health practitioners can practically and effectively promote governance and accountability within health systems. This participatory session will introduce tools developed by two USAID-funded projects—Leadership, Management and Governance (LMG) and Health Policy Plus (HP+)—that de-mystify the concepts of governance and accountability for health professionals, and illustrate how they can be used to engage diverse stakeholders to better understand issues that arise in different health contexts and learn how to create solutions. Participants can explore one tool in more detail and share ideas on how they may apply to their own contexts.
