Research on Very Young Adolescents: Innovative Methods for Evidence Generation
The years between ages 10 and 14 are a pivotal period in the transition from childhood to adolescence, but little is known about what it means to be a very young adolescent (VYA). This session brings together experts working on the cutting edge of research with VYAs. The session will start with a presentation on making the case for investing in adolescents as well as the state of the evidence. We will then hold an interactive panel discussion focusing on how to do research with VYA, and in particular how to keep young adolescents engaged in research, longitudinal data collection with adolescents, ethical considerations and how to measure sensitive topics in the family planning, SRH and social norms space using innovative methods.
