Quality Assurance in Surgical Management of Neglected Tropical Diseases

This session will present experiences and lessons learned by Helen Keller International’s Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention Project, with USAID funding, on the use of surgical training packages for trichiasis surgery and hydrocele surgery. This session will include presentations, surgical simulators, video clips and discussions on the lessons learned in TT surgery training and how they were applied in the context of hydrocele surgery. Results from Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Ethiopia will be shared and discussions will be held on the quality assurance indicators used, the evaluation tools that were developed and their contribution to the health systems strengthening at the national level.
