Innovative Risk Management Strategies for Improving Environmental Performance

The Global Health Bureau is developing a risk-based approach to environmental management, which strategically focuses resources on the environmental compliance issues that present potentially higher risk to the Agency and bureau. In this context and framework, this presentation will provide an overview of applying a risk-based methodology to effectively allocate resources to improve environmental performance. The presentation will address how GH can more effectively manage environmental risk, with a focus on the use of environmental assessments as an effective internal monitoring control. The presentation will discuss the concepts of GH’s environmental risk management approach and how this differs from the more common cyclical compliance review process used in other bureaus.
