Evidence: is it all about Interpretation?
Instructors will emphasize that the presentation of data can impact its interpretation in critical ways. Session leaders will incorporate examples from global health and the mainstream media and ask participants to identify strengths and weaknesses of data visualizations to teach these points. Instructors will lead the group in a discussion of using data for decision-making. They will give a brief overview of PEPFAR programs and offer a case study of “cost per person living with HIV (PLHIV)” to demonstrate the importance of and difficulties with measuring program performance. Instructors will introduce participants to the publicly-available PEPFAR Data Dashboards website and suggest important applications of using this data. This session will be interactive and instructors will encourage participation from the audience.
