Adaptive Management for Learning, Improvement and Evaluation of Health Programs
*Recommended Audience: Young Professionals/Graduate Students, Mid-Level Professionals, and Experienced Professionals
There is growing interest in understanding implementation challenges to determine if course correction in programs is needed. This session will explain what “adaptive management” is and how it can be used to result in a better program. We will use the example of the Care Community Hub project building the CHN on the Go mobile app to address motivation of Community health nurses in Ghana to demonstrate this rigorous research, monitoring and evaluation approach using the principles of adaptive management. This method involved multiple waves of data collection followed by engaging with stakeholders and program implementers at key time time-points to answer critical questions and make programmatic changes. We will also discuss the potential application of this approach to other projects prior to scale up.
