Achieving Common Ground: Faith-Based Partnerships and Family Planning

Achieving Common Ground: Faith-Based Partnerships and Family Planning

Faith-based organizations (FBOs) are important providers of clinical and community-based health services and are a critical component of health systems in many countries. This session will highlight a partnership between three faith-based groups and USAID’s Advancing Partners & Communities (APC) project, run by secular organizations, JSI and FHI360. APC works with faith partners to achieve key outcomes and recognizes their unique perspective to community-based care. Donors, governments, and multilateral agencies demonstrate increasing interest in faith partnerships as a strategy to help countries meet national and FP2020 goals. Presenters will share programmatic examples and resources from a faith-based perspective. Through participatory activities, participants and presenters will identify how family planning programs can improve outcomes through partnerships with FBOs, future recommendations, and areas for further research.
